Synje Norland is a singer, songwriter, theater composer, and podcaster.<\/p>\n

Her journey as a professional musician began in 2008 with the release of her debut album Skipping Stones. In 2011, her second album To The Other Side followed \u2014 once again produced together with Flensburg-based producer Benito Battiston and released on her own label, Norland Music.<\/p>\n

In recognition of her artistic work, GEMA nominated her in 2011 for the German Music Authors\u2019 Award in the \u201cYoung Talent\u201d category.<\/p>\n

Praised by critics, Synje Norland\u2019s songs have been featured in the soundtrack of the TV series Mord mit Aussicht (\u201cHomicide Hills\u201d) as well as in films such as Liebe Mauer (\u201cBeloved Berlin Wall\u201d) and the ZDF two-part drama Das Geheimnis der Wale (\u201cThe Secret of the Whales\u201d). This exposure brought her wider attention beyond Germany\u2019s borders.<\/p>\n

In 2011, Synje Norland performed at Indie Week in Toronto, and in 2013 at the NXNE Festival, also held in Toronto. She joined Icelandic artist Helgi Jonsson on his Germany tour and appeared as a guest vocalist with the band Santiano in 2012 and 2013.<\/p>\n

In 2016, supported by the \u201cInitiative Musik,\u201d Synje Norland released her third studio album Who Says I Can\u2019t. The multi-instrumentalist produced the entire record independently, performing all instruments herself except for the prominently featured cello.<\/p>\n

After a subsequent tour in autumn 2016 \u2014 which she performed while heavily pregnant \u2014 Synje Norland took a musical break to focus fully on her family.<\/p>\n

In 2020, she reappeared with a series of virtual living-room concerts performed together with artist Julie Wei\u00dfbach. The following year, the two launched their podcast Wahrhaftig und Vehement (\u201cTruthful and Vehement\u201d).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2022, Synje Norland co-wrote the song Wie es zerbricht (\u201cAs It Breaks\u201d) with Danish artist Frederik Veders\u00f8, which premiered at the opening concerts of the Folk Baltica Festival. Following another invitation from the festival, she began working on her musical adaptations of poems by Theodor Storm.<\/p>\n

In parallel, in 2024 Synje Norland composed the music for the Storm-inspired play Heimkehr \u2013 oder die letzte Sirene (\u201cHomecoming \u2013 or The Last Siren\u201d), which premiered at the Hoftheater F\u00f6hr.
